don't apologize, Miss A--that's what comment boxes are for! I saw Oyate's comment about Two Moons; will flag Talking Earth.

Yeah, Susan, we've had that conversation...and I guess at the end of the day, things wouldn't need to be separate if they were equal. Having a month-long focus on a group is better than nothing (which is what it would otherwise be)

Apparentely (and I'm kicking myself for not checking) Walk 2 Moons and The Talking Earth are also problamatic, according to Oyate. I've crossed them off my list. Sorry for the misinformation!
Thanks for sharing about the Aleuts. I didn't know anything about their history. Also, I don't like these celebration 'flavors of the month' but I think they are necessary to help spread awarness of other non white cultures.

I hear you but we've talked about this before. I'm not ready to give up the celebrations. I see a few titles on your list I'd like to read.

Please take a moment to check out my documentary film BLACK HAIR

It is free at youtube. 6 parts including an update from London, England.

It explores the Korean Take-over of the Black Beauty Supply and Hair biz..

The current situation makes it hard to believe that Madame C.J. Walker once ran the whole thing.

I am not a hater, I am a motivator.

Plus I am a White guy who stumbled upon this, and felt it was so wrong I had to make a film about it.

self-funded film, made from the heart.

Can it be taken back?

edit: Can we get to a place where we stop reducing issues to the ridiculously simplistic therefore missing the mark and making stupid sound bites that fail to address the real issues?
