Yeah, Susan, we’ve had that conversation…and I guess at the end of the day, things wouldn’t need to be separate if they were equal. Having a month-long focus on a group is better than nothing (which is what it would otherwise be)

Apparentely (and I’m kicking myself for not checking) Walk 2 Moons and The Talking Earth are also problamatic, according to Oyate. I’ve crossed them off my list. Sorry for the misinformation!
Thanks for sharing about the Aleuts. I didn’t know anything about their history. Also, I don’t like these celebration ‘flavors of the month’ but I think they are necessary to help spread awarness of other non white cultures.

edit: Can we get to a place where we stop reducing issues to the ridiculously simplistic therefore missing the mark and making stupid sound bites that fail to address the real issues?
