Ok, so these students probably didn’t have a choice about whether or not they wanted to write me a letter—but still, *what* they wrote was so touching! Shadra showed more restraint; she only posted one on her blog, but I’m going with these three:

A future author!
What a sweetheart…and a natural optimist! I hope I *can* share “Munecas” with children someday…

Well, Shadra thinks we should go to Cuba to “research” our next collaboration…so maybe we will have tales to tell next year. Thanks to the Crispus Attucks School, teacher extraordinaire, Ms. Lizet Williams, and especially Jo Umans, the woman behind Behind the Book, who makes visits like these possible!
Years ago, I founded a book charity. One group of children from one of the schools made ‘Ms. B’ a book. Maude, you talk about making your heart swell. They thanked me for sending them so many books, but when I got my gift book from them, I was hooked. I knew what I was doing what I was suppose to be doing.
Thanks for sharing your letters. They really made me smile and feel better.
These kids are sooooo cute! Charles is awesome. I wish I *could* get some extra hands on this project I’m trying to tackle now. lol
Susan–glad their love made you feel better! The question now is, what to DO with all these letters and cards…when you teach or work with kids, you get hundreds of these over time, and I always feel bad throwing them out, but I can’t keep them all…
Shadra–Charles would SO be your artist’s assistant…too bad about those pesky child labor laws!
